Baby Basket Program

Several members of the Tepeyac Family Center staff determined that many of the Moms who were part of our Charity Care Program did not have the resources to provide tangible needs for their new babies when it came time to take the babies home from the hospital. Thus the Divine Mercy Care Baby Basket Program was born. This program, establishes a specific list of needs which comprise the elements of an individual baby basket. These needs are donated through the generosity of the Tepeyac Family Center family (patients and staff) and then made into baby baskets which are then provided to the moms near the end of their pregnancy or just after the child is born. This program has expanded to include a boy scout collecting goods as part of his Eagle Scout project, young teen and pre-teen groups collecting items as part of their charity ministry, or individuals collecting items as part of a Confirmation project. The program is coordinated by the Tepeyac Family Center Patient Advocate and one of the founders of the program, Mrs. Donna Lowe.

The list of items that are needed changes as the existing inventory changes. Those in the greatest of need are at the top of the list. Cash donations are also used for this program to provide hard-to-get items. There are baby bottles located at the check-in and check-out counters at Tepeyac Family Center which are being used for cash donations.
